Data LIFT

Data on LGBTI+ Inclusion For Transformation (Data LIFT) addresses the urgent need for high-quality data on LGBTI+ people — and ensures that data is used to drive real policy change. Far from performative reporting or shelfware, Data LIFT is a first-of-its-kind approach that works directly with organizations to generate meaningful knowledge and embed it into decision-making processes that improve LGBTI+ lives.

This approach takes a full-lifecycle view of data — from collection and analysis to direct policy impact — while strengthening the capacity of LGBTI+ groups to lead this work.

Click here to see the first effort of Data LIFT. In Belize, and in partnership with the United Belize Advocacy Movement, Koppa Lab has accomplished:

  • Belize’s first diagnostic on the economic exclusion of LGBTI+ people, published here as well as on the site of Belize’s NSO, the Statistical Institute of Belize, located here.
  • Organized two roundtables — first with the US Embassy, and second with the University of Belize — convening Ministers, Ambassadors, economic professionals, and community members. Media outreach reached thousands.
  • Ongoing advocacy for non-discrimination legislation using evidence from the diagnostic.
  • Presentations to major institutions like the World Bank, IDB, UN Statistics Commission, and at four global conferences.
  • New partnership with the Statistical Institute of Belize to pilot nationwide data collection.

Koppa Lab is now expanding Data LIFT to other countries; more links will be posted soon.
