Launched as a series of in-person and virtual bell-ringing ceremonies at participating stock exchanges around the world, beginning May 14th, 2025 and leading into Pride Month, Ring the Bell for LGBTIQ+ Equality (RTB) commemorated the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). This global initiative sought to rally stock exchanges, businesses, and LGBTIQ+ organizations in a united call to action for equality, human rights, and the economic inclusion of LGBTIQ+ people.
Koppa Lab was proud to collaborate with the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, the UN Global Compact, the UN Human Rights (OHCHR), and the Partnership for Global LGBTIQ+ Equality to organize this landmark effort.
The private sector holds transformative power in advancing both the economic case and equal rights of LGBTIQ+ people. RTB provided a powerful platform to bring together exchanges, corporations, civil society, and community organizations to elevate awareness, spark global dialogue, deepen cross-sector partnerships, and help build an inclusive economy where everyone—regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or sex characteristics—is respected and valued.
This initiative aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals’ principle of leaving no one behind and echoed the UN Standards of Conduct for Business on Tackling Discrimination against LGBTIQ+ People—endorsed by over 400 companies globally.
Ring the Bell for LGBTIQ+ Equality is envisioned as an annual global engagement, growing a powerful international coalition committed to LGBTIQ+ rights and visibility in economic spaces.
As part of its convening mission, Koppa Lab will host a two-day global LGBTIQ+ inclusive finance event on October 9–10, 2025, in New York City, in collaboration with various partners. This pioneering event, The Global LGBTIQ+ Finance Forum, will bring together stakeholders across the financial sector, LGBTIQ+ founders, and LGBTIQ+ thought leaders from the Global South and East to foster dialogue, engage innovators in gender and climate finance, build interpersonal relationships, share best practices, and explore opportunities to identify specific community and market needs and replicate the most successful initiatives. Addressing the nascent stage of LGBTIQ-inclusive finance, the event will fill a crucial gap.
Utilizing Koppa’s convening power across the global LGBTIQ+ community, The Global LGBTIQ+ Finance Forum will bring together voices that have never shared the same space. It will serve as a platform to share knowledge and promote the scaling of effective models of LGBTIQ+ inclusive finance. With a diverse array of products and initiatives to showcase, the Forum will foster greater collaboration between the Global North, South and East. By elevating historically overlooked perspectives, the Forum will harness commercial power with the potential to tangibly improve lives.
